📄️ Desktop menus and menu options
This help topic is about standard menus. A standard menu may be enriched with extra options from a context menu that appear only in certain contexts. The standard options appear in all situations.
📄️ Context menus
A context menu is a menu page with options that are only displayed to the runtime users in certain situations. This contrasts with the standard menu for the user, which is available in all situations.
📄️ Menu toolbar (icon ribbon)
In USoft Windows GUIs, a menu toolbar or icon ribbon is displayed immediately below the application menu. The picture below shows the default icon ribbon for USoft applications on application entry, when no info windows are open. The icons offered correspond to menu options available in the user's standard menu. Each menu line in a menu can optionally have a corresponding icon.
📄️ Menu sensitivity
Menu sensitivity is the fact that menu options may be made available in certain situations, and unavailable in others. When they are unavailable, their text prompt appears in a greyed-out colour.
📄️ Menu translation
You might want to translate the default menu option names (such as File, Edit, Window and Help) into the local language with new mnemonics.
